As the Ubuntu Family Initiative we spent the day at the Oye youth empowerment programs Casa Emilie in Oaxaca Mexico. The center serves to help mothers and children in their after school programs and offers themmeals and aswel supportive services. We have been long in the talks with them and are happy to be able to help them along in their great efforts aswell as with online art classes.

As the Ubuntu family initiative, we join in the planting of trees project declared by the Kenyan Government this month by contributing towards 100 seedlings through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

We sponsored the creation of a music class sending roll-up 61 key pianos to the Libros Magic's Project run by Peru Volunteers in Cusco and have started online piano lessons through the finger technique.

During our visit to Tanzania Africa, we were able to visit Mto Wa Mbu village community, a melting pot, it is thought to be one of the only places in Tanzania where there are representatives from all 120 tribes living happily side by side. Our mission was to distribute the basic needs bags to the village children.

During our last visit to Africa and the Masai community in Kenya, we identified that like our basic needs bags and water filters, these communities who live in traditional huts with little light are very much in need of solar lighting. As The Ubuntu Family Initiative and ahead of our visit to the Masai community in Tanzania we came prepared only to be most welcomed with our gifts by the Chief Ole Dorop who allowed us to pass on the light to the women in the community.

As the Ubuntu family initiative, we regularly collect and send gently used clothing from those around us, to the children and teens at Better me in Kenya Africa, this time we were asked to send Anti Malaria supplies to protect the children from the Mosquitoes as many have been suffering from Malaria lately, so to our package a steady supply of repellent bracelets, clothes stickers and sprays were added.

We are therefore celebrating a good year and our 50th charitable giving goal and in honour of this we have contributed towards the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s tree-planting initiatives in Kenya. We covered the cost of 100 indigenous tree saplings, grown and tended at the Sheldrick Trust tree nurseries, and planted by members of the local Kenyan community to help reforest vital habitats and provide food, shelter and shade for wildlife.

Unfortunately, the ability to send children to kindergarten or day-care is not possible for a lot of women in Cusco Peru, therefore, the only way to take care of their children is to keep them by their side. This results in the children staying on the streets the whole day, playing with the products being sold by their mothers, or just having a nap.As the Ubuntu Family Initiative we strongly believe in the education of children and along with Peru Volunteer we have contributed towards the Market library and gave the first of our Art classes which we look forward to continuing online soon.

Water Purification Project
The Ubuntu Family Initiative we believe that having access to clean water is an essential part of our work. Within the Sacred Valley, there is a town where traditions inherited from the Incas -like dialoguing with the cosmos and the environment- are preserved: the Mullak’as Misminay community. This beautiful Andean village has grown significantly over the years, improving its infrastructure and the quality of life of its over 300 families. In order to enable them to have frank clean water whilst they work their lands we donated 10 portable water filters.

The Ubuntu Family Initiative is passionate about the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Orphans’ Project, which rescues and rehabilitates orphan baby elephants. Previously we adopted two orphans in their care, named Roho and Kinyei. To continue our support of this project, this year we have chosen instead to adopt two younger calves, Kerrio and Rokka, who are both a year old and were rescued under unfortunate circumstances.

With less space to share, people and animals now come into direct contact at an alarming rate and often with deadly results.
Big Life employs hundreds of local Maasai rangers to protect the Greater Amboseli ecosystem in collaboration with local communities.
In our pursuit to protect, as the Ubuntu family initiative, we are contributing towards the Big Life Foundation and their ranger program to maximise their impact.

There is no time to look away,
With access to food grossly unequal, Yemen is on the verge of famine and no end to world hunger without an end to the conflict; the World Food Program works towards food security one sack at a time.
As the Ubuntu family initiative by contributing towards the WFP, we are supporting them whilst they reconfigure their work to reach 11.6 million children throughout Africa who are no longer receiving their daily school lunches due to restrictions meant to stop the spread of COVID-19.
A reminder that food security, peace and stability go together.

Malinda secondary school in Kenya finally has access to a source of safe and clean water! A project we have been contributing towards and following since April as the Ubuntu family initiative, the construction kicked off in June and has been finally completed.

Amisas Education
As the Ubuntu family initiative and with the help of the Giraffe children charity, we are overjoyed to introduce you to Amisa,
Amisa lives in the Kibera slums in Nairobi with her mother and four siblings; she is six years old, and in grade 2, she is eager to learn loves to draw and read.
As a family, we have been granted the sponsorship of this beautiful little girl. We aim to follow her education closely in the Nairobi green passage primary school, support her mother and look forward to meeting her in August.

Wildlife Conservation
As the Ubuntu Family Initiative we have chosen to adopt two orphan elephants through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, named Roho and Kinyei, both less than a year old and thriving in the care of the SWT’s Nairobi Nursery.

As the Ubuntu family initiative and with the help of the Elma Trust, we have enjoyed spending time helping tutor English language classes, play and work on school projects in the Sambor village Elma Primary School.
